I read a lot of children's books. My favorites are books for kids who are from 8 to 12, but I also read young adult books. I even occasionally read adult books.

Alice, I think by Susan Juby
I got this book from the library on the recommendation of people on
Adbooks. One of their observations was that the main character in the
story had a rather unique "voice" - and that it appeals to some and not
to others. I was/am interested in this observation, largely because I
didn't find the "voice" that compelling. While slightly different from
some sarcastic teen "voices", it doesn't seem THAT different that I
would have remarked on it. It isn't a bad book, and some parts are
truly funny, but the main character just didn't grab me as much as I had
hoped. Some of the people on Adbooks said similar things. Others
completely loved the character and have read all of the sequels. I
probably won't.
